This time Gypsy Devils have prepared for us evergreen opera performed their typical way that only this likeable group of young virtuosos can. It should be noted that from the final version we could feel humility before Bizet’s genius, but of course in the individual songs the technical dispositions of each soloists were standing out in expressive planes full of thrilling solos. They treated Bizet’s music with their own style, full of solo passages, but also beautiful, romantic and melancholic lines, in which solo violinist has shone with the tone worthy champions.Through out whole CD we can hear the prominent beautiful sound of clarinet and the fervent tone of the cello. The dulcimer was dominant over the top of the whole orchestra. Played by legendary core of “Gypsy Devils” Ernest Sarkozy, who does not have competition among dulcimer players in speed but also in a way he is feeling the harmonies. All this spiced up with the joy of making music and we have new CD that simply cannot be missed! Simply a “must have”!

Peter Feranec (Slovakia) conductor – Bolshoi Teather Moscow,
Mikhailowsky Opera and Ballet Teather St.Peterburg

Paul Gulda (Austria) composer and piano virtuoso

Interwoven with elements of Classic, Klezmer, flamenco, east-European folk and gypsy music, and their own world-loved unique style, Gypsy Devil’s take on Carmen is an outstanding, very surprising creation. Combining amazing technical ability with a unique style and sound that sets alight any listener, Gypsy Devils stun their audiences with their honest, exciting, open approach to music that has assembled stylistic elements from many a tradition bringing the best together and through their close, friendly collaboration opening a whole new world to audiences. This is very much Carmen as you’ve never heard it before, and it will touch you and make you go wild at the same time!

Alex Prior (Great Britain) composer and conductor – Copenhagen, Denmark – The Royal Danish Opera and Ballet Teather

Habe die “Carmen” – der Gypsy Devils gehört – brillant und mitreissend gespielt, mit packendem Groove, und einem cleveren Arrangement, das gekonnt viele verschiedene Gypsy-Stilistiken unter einen Hut bringt. Great fun!

Georg Breinschmid (Austria) composer and bass player
