Jan Jankeje is one of the most famous representa ve of Slovak jazz stage abroad. Today, he is an essen al part of jazz stage of Western Europe. He became known all over the world in 1979, during 6-year ac vity as a bass player, se er and front man in „Bireli Lagrene Ensemble“, and for 40 years he is a career jazzman and he feels himself at home in „all“ the styles of „modern as well as old music“. In recent last years he had played with great success large sessions on interna onal stages among others with Les Paul, Eugene Cicero, Tony Sco , Ronny Sco , Joe Pass, Emely Remmlervej, Jaco Pastorius, Larry Coryell, Stephane Grappelli, Lionel Hampton, Horst Jankowski, Barney Kessel, Babik Reinhardt, Benny Goodman, Vice Juris, Larrym Coryell, Dieter Seelow, Roman Mussolini, Benny Carterom, Frederic Rabold, Hugo Heredia, Beny Waters, Doc Cheatham, Wild Bill Davison, Oscar Klein, Al Casey, Acker Bilk, Tal Farlow, Budd de Franco, Sco Hamilton, Eje Thelin, Charly Antolini, with the jazz impresario George Wein, Dodo Šošoka, or Bireli Lagren. Musical double bass style range of Ján Jankeje is very wide up to the present day. As a bass player during last decades, together with great jazz ar sts of European and American stage, he created more than 120 LPs and CDs, which documented his ar s c development and skills. He released ten CDs under his own name. Together with his musicians Jan produces and plays every kind of jazz music, through bebop, swing, solo to jazz concerts with his sextet of constantly changing cast, blues, dixieland, mobil jazz, mainstream and music of Django Reinhardt a Stephane Grappelli. On this CD we managed to capture the concert of Jan Jankeje with his „mobil band“ in the Art Jazz Gallery in Piešťany. The atmosphere was outstanding, mul plied by the fact, that the last 4 concert composi ons took part in the legendary Slovak jazz drummer Dodo Šošoka. Today we know it was apparently Dodo’s last recording before he le us forever – that is why we appreciate it very much, because it will remind him to us forever
